Tiffany White is currently the Dance Director at Chandler High School and the Past President of the Arizona Dance Education Organization (AzDEO) and has been teaching Dance in the private and public setting for over 14 years. She was the past Secretary of AzDEO and sits on the Professional Development and Recognition Committees. She has a BFA in Dance & Choreography and a BS in Creative Advertising from Virginia Commonwealth University, a MEd in Secondary Education from the University of Arizona, & a MEd in Counseling from Prescott College. Tiffany has served on various state committees to revise the state dance standards, create Baseline/Summative Assessments, pilot the National Dance Standards, and the SEL x Arts committee to help create lesson plans and other resources that encourage educators to connect the Social Emotional framework to State Arts Standards. She has spoken at multiple events around the state of AZ such as the ASA State Conference, Title IV-A Conference, AZ Arts Congress, numerous AzDEO professional development events, and has spoken at the National Dance Education Conference. Tiffany was the 2019 recipient of the ‘Kathy Lindholm Lane’ AZ Dance Educator of the Year.
My goals for serving on the Board of Directors as the Southwest Representative remain unwavering: to amplify the voices of the members I represent and ensure NDEO actively upholds its commitment to equity and inclusion. During my first term, I helped to re-establish the western regions and directly engaged with each state in my region to provide comprehensive reports to the Board. Driven by a commitment to transparency, I questioned the State Affiliates program - challenging leadership to re-evaluate its equity- and now spearhead the State Affiliates Task Force. Additionally, when the call to look into the conference proposal acceptance process arose, I immediately joined the effort to help shape the organization's path forward. Problem-solving and collaboration are where I thrive. I intentionally work across diverse backgrounds and sectors, knowing that the best leadership decisions come from valuing perspectives different from my own. I have the courage to say the "hard things" that open the door for meaningful change. Admittedly, before joining the board, I believed a K-12 educator had no place in NDEO leadership. I now recognize that my background is precisely what makes me an effective advocate, as K-12 educators comprise a significant majority of our membership. Beyond my board service, I have advocated at the state level for Arts funding and expanded educational access by meeting with state senators, house representatives, and the state Superintendent of Public Instruction. As a consultant on numerous Arizona Department of Education initiatives, I successfully campaigned for and implemented the embedding of the Social-Emotional Learning framework into the state arts standards, collaborating in a trio to create over 25 model lesson plans. Furthermore, as AzDEO President, I led the organization through a major rebranding that included revising bylaws, modernizing marketing, diversifying revenue streams, and expanding student dance events. I remain deeply passionate about advancing the field of dance education and am eager to continue this work at the national level.
