NDEO Honors Ann Hutchinson Guest, 1918-2022

Dear NDEO members,

Many of you have heard about the passing of Ann Hutchinson Guest at age 103. Our hearts go out to all who knew Ann, and particularly those closest to her in the dance notation community. To say she lived an incredible life is an understatement! NDEO has benefited much from her scholarship and joyous enthusiasm for life! As the 217th member, joining NDEO in 1998... one could say she was a founding member of NDEO. Ann had been a steady joyous figure each year at our National Conference, known by our members for not only her research and scholarly accomplishments, but also her welcoming smile and signature sequin gold cap. 

In 2003 Ann was awarded the NDEO Lifetime Achievement Award.

In 2014 she began hosting her annual Dance Archaeology Intensive sessions at NDEO Conferences. These presentations have included:

We will be celebrating her life at conference this year, and invite all conference attendees to please join us in honoring Ann and her many contributions to the field!
