![]() The work of NDEO impact communities across the nation. Our innovative programs affect national initiatives, state programs, districts, institutions, and individual teachers and students. NDEO's commitment to excellence in the teaching of dance as an art has launched systematic change and growth in the field. Our programs support the dance community from the local to the national level. Most of this work has been accomplished by NDEO due to the individuals in our membership. We welcome your involvement in our dance education initiatives. Internship Program - NDEO provides students in undergraduate or graduate programs a practical, challenging and meaningful experience in dance education administration and leadership. Young professionals interested in careers in dance education, research, administration, legislature and national advocacy, conference program planning, marketing, technology and publications/CD/video development can receive semester credits while learning through hands-on experiences. NDEO's State/National Initiatives for Dance Education - The National Endowment for the Arts has supported NDEO's projects to work with state initiatives to: 1) help states get dance in schools; 2) help states improve the quality of dance that currently exists in schools; and 3) guide states through their teacher certification process. NDEO helps states align state and local school district standards, curriculum frameworks, assessments, certification, teacher training, and technical support. U.S. Department of Education - "Research in Dance Education", a three year research grant issued by the Department's Office of Education Research and Improvement leading to the establishment of a Research Center for Dance Education. NDEO's New Professionals in Action Program - NDEO developed a Mentorship program that pairs seasoned dance professionals with new dance educators and professionals so that experience and knowledge may be shared. We expect this will reap many wonderful rewards for both mentor and student. The Dancers Forum Compact - The Dancers Forum Compact provides a set of guidelines for reference by dancers and choreographers at any and all stages of their careers. It is meant to facilitate working relationships in an artistic environment and open dialogue for future endeavors. Student Advantage Program - NDEO membership savings for students attending schools who hold membership to NDEO under our Institutional Membership option. Friends of NDEO
