NDEO is a membership driven organization. Members vote, hold office, develop world-class publications, serve on national task force committees, develop student and teacher standards and assessments, choreograph, teach dance and academics, administer dance programs, do research, and a host of other professional activities - to advancing dance education centered in the arts. To a large extent, members determine the future directions of the organization - and importantly, they make systemic change in the United States in dance education.

NDEO encourages the involvement of dances educators of diverse, backgrounds, styles of dance, and areas of involvement. There are a variety of membership options: Individual Member, Student Member, Retiree, Institutional Membership (colleges and universities), Institutional Membership (all other organizations), and Business/Corporate Membership. Descriptions are listed below.

Membership Options:

Professional Member - includes persons in career paths of dance education: dance educators, dancers and choreographers, dance specialists in medicine/science and technology, arts educators and administrators, and members interested in dance. Includes a subscription to the Journal of Dance Education

Student Member - includes matriculated high school, undergraduate and graduate students. Proof of student status is requested at time of enrollment and upon subsequent renewal of student membership. For an additional $25, students may subscribe to the Journal of Dance Education

Retiree Member - includes persons retired from a career in professional dance education. For an additional $25, retirees may subscribe to the Journal of Dance Education.

Institutional Member - I - (Studios, PreK-12, Performing Arts Organizations, State Councils and LEAs) - includes private studios/academies, PreK-12 schools, outreach programs of Performing Arts Organizations, State Arts Council and Alliances, Local Education Agencies - any organization that supports dance education. Includes a subscription to the Journal of Dance Education

Institutional Member - II - (Institutions in Higher Education) - includes colleges, universities, and institutions in postsecondary education that deliver dance programs or support the delivery of dance education. Includes a subscription to the Journal of Dance Education

Businesses and Corporate Member - includes members of the business community that support NDEO. Includes a subscription to the Journal of Dance Education

Student Advantage Program - Students attending schools that hold Institutional Membership-I or II are eligible for additional discounts in membership and national conference. For more information, download Institutional Student Advantage Program
