Dr. Sherrill Berryman Johnson, Coordinator and Artistic Director of the Howard University Dance Major Program transitioned on Wednesday, March 24, 2010 at her home in Washington, DC. Representing the epitome of artistic excellence, integrity and leadership for the dance arts profession, Dr. Johnson was a trailblazer and warrior spirit working consistently to educate, enrich and expand the lives of all who had the opportunity to engage her presence. As the former chairperson of the International Association of Blacks in Dance, Dr. Johnson's contribution to the dance arts profession has made an indelible impact that extends to artists, educators, students and community members of all ages in the national and internationally dance community. The depth and breathe of her knowledge, commitment, compassion and contribution has and will continue to influence the dance arts community and profession for generations to come.
The memorial service celebrating the life of Dr. Sherrill Berryman Johnson is Monday, April 5, 2010 at Andrew Rankin Chapel on the campus of Howard University. The repass will immediately follow in the Andrew Carnegie Building, 2395 Sixth Street, NW, Washington, DC 20059, on the University’s campus.
