Teacher Evaluation is a crucial issue for all teachers but especially for arts educators, including dance educators. Because of the need to share and disseminate information on this important topic and to develop strategies to impact a better system of teacher evaluation for dance educators, NDEO convened a special topics conference on Teacher Evaluation called Charting the Course: Approaches to Teacher Evaluation for K-12 Dance Educators. The conference was held on May 16-18 in Albuquerque, New Mexico and marked a first step in examining the state of teacher evaluation for dance educators across the nation.

The conference presentations and proceedings were compiled into a strategies document called, the K-12 Teacher Evaluation: Dance Strategies Report. The document highlights outlines an overview of national, state and local perspectives, and provides strategies and resources on the issues and inequities of teacher evaluation in dance, and what can be done to advocate for a better system.
