NDEO is pleased to announce that we will be offering two Special Topic Conferences in 2019!

Emerging Pathways within Somatic Movement and Dance Education

In partnership with the International Somatic Movement Education and Therapy Association (ISMETA)
June 21 - 23, 2019
Gibney Dance - Agnes Varis Center for the Performing Arts, New York, NY
CALL FOR PROPOSALS open through November 15, 2018

This Special Topic Conference provides a forum to experience and expand the intersections of Somatic Movement and Dance Education. How are dance and somatic educators carving the future of our fields? This groundbreaking partnership, between two pioneering internationally recognized organizations, will refine and deepen our common roots and expanding frontiers. The time together will include somatic movement sessions, panel discussions, current research presentations, and curriculum design workshops. Special attention will be given to the discovery of new somatic approaches and entry points for dance educators.

Jazz Dance: Hybrids, Fusions, Connections, Community

July 30 - August 2, 2019
Salve Regina University, Newport, RI
CALL FOR PROPOSALS open through March 1, 2019

The inaugural NDEO Jazz Dance Conference in 2016 left participants with an overwhelming sense of community. Riding on this wave into the future, we invite past conference participants and all jazz dance enthusiasts to connect once again in the City by the Sea. Jazz Dance: Hybrids, Fusions, Connections, Community will bring together a community of jazz artists, educators, and practitioners to share and deepen their understanding of what jazz dance is today, in all its vibrant shapes and forms, and how it might continue to evolve.
