Internships

Assuming responsibility today for leadership tomorrow. . .

The National Dance Education Organization provides interns with practical and challenging experiences that are designed to offer meaningful learning experiences for young professionals interested in careers in dance education, research, grants, national advocacy, legislation and policy, arts administration/business, marketing, membership, publications and periodicals, and conferences.

Internships are primarily designed for students in undergraduate and graduate school and usually provide 2-5 semester credits based on a 20-40 hour per week program. Applicants need not be students to apply.  Intern programs are designed to meet the needs and goals of the individual applicant built in context with NDEO’s work at the national level in dance arts education. Internships are highly competitive.  NDEO does not require an internship fee; nor does NDEO offer a stipend.  Internships are available year round.

Interns work side-by-side with the Executive Director, staff, and esteemed professions partnering with NDEO on projects that embrace the national agenda in dance education which usually involve U.S. federal and state legislatures and departments of education working toward systemic reform in arts education. Projects focus on national/state standards and guidelines in dance and arts education, certification, networking with over 150 federal/state agencies and arts/education associations.

Interns may select from the following tracks: (1) Dance Education (standards, curriculum, assessments, teacher certification and competency standards); (2) Research; (3) Grant Procurement and Implementation; (4) National Advocacy, Legislation, Policy and Funding; (5) Arts Administration and Business; (6) Marketing, Membership, and Publications; and (7) Conferences. To apply for the Intern Program, please complete the application and submit the following materials:
