NDEO advances dance education centered in the arts through diverse initiatives that are targeted to strengthen dance education at local, state, and national levels. An overview of select programs and services NDEO offers is provided below.

  Innovative Standards:

 

Standards for Dance in Early Childhood, Standards for Learning and Teaching Dance in the Arts: Ages 5-18), Professional Teaching Standards for Dance in the Arts, and Standards for a Model K-12 Program: Opportunities to Learn in Dance Arts Education.

 

Groundbreaking Research:

 

Dance Education Literature and Research Descriptive Index (DELRdi), an index of more than 3,700 documents in dance education.

 

 

Strong Advocacy:

 

Alliances with over 150 federal and state agencies and arts associations to shape policy issues at the national, state, and local levels that affect dance arts education programs and educators.

 

  High Quality Professional Development:

 

National and regional conferences that provide master classes, workshops, presentation of research, performances, networking and advocacy opportunities for thousands of dance educators, artists and administrators across the US.

National Honor Society for Dance Arts; State Affiliate Networks; Awards and Scholarships; consulting services for establishing state certification programs.
