Student Programs

The National Dance Education Organization strongly supports its student members who are the future professionals in dance and dance education. As such, NDEO offers the following programs to support students in their studies, artistry, and professional preparation.

Internships

NDEO offers internship opportunities for highly motivated, independent, and mature graduate and undergraduate student members of NDEO who seek to understand dance arts education in relation to the national agenda of educational reform. Internships offer practical and challenging experiences in dance education, research, legislation, policy and funding, advocacy, arts or business administration, marketing and publications, conferences, and membership.

NDEO Student Organizations (NSOs)

NDEO members who are students can start Student Dance Education Organization chapters at their university or college. In addition to hosting their own activities at the school level, each student chapter may send a representative to the NDEO Student Council which meets during the annual conference. The Student Council offers students a venue to network, address issues and concerns unique to students, and propose ways NDEO can better serve its student population.

Conference Scholarships

As funds are available, NDEO offers $300 scholarships to students who plan to attend the annual National Conference to help defray travel and hotel expenses. One scholarship each is offered to a deserving undergraduate and a graduate student. Both awards present a check to the recipient at conference.

Students are defined as members who are in Undergraduate or Graduate (masters) programs at a college or university on a full-time basis. If their school, college or university is also an Institutional Member of NDEO they qualify for the discounted Student of an Institutional Member conference rate. Phd / EdD candidates are not eligible for the student conference rates.
