Some of the exciting events going on at Conference

ANNA HALPRIN
PARTICIPATORY PLANETARY DANCE
Friday, October 20,  8:00 – 10:00 pm

Join Anna’s 26th annual spring ritual developed for peace among people and peace with the earth.  The Earth Run is the heart of the Planetary Dance.  It is a moving, simple circle dance that everyone can do based on walking, running, and stillness in the four directions.  Black and white dress is suggested, but not required.

Anna is named by the Dance Heritage Coalition as one of 100 “America’s Irreplaceable Dance Treasures.”

DALE ROSE
FEATURED SPEAKER
Saturday, October 21, 12:30 - 1:30 pm

Rose will present his groundbreaking research of Chicago’s Reading in Motion (formerly Whirlwind) program, a program that teaches reading and spelling skills through kinesthetic learning techniques.  The report,  Basic Reading Through Dance Program: The Impact on First-Grade Students’ Basic Reading Skills (2003), written in cooperation with Susan McMahon and Michaela Parks, is hailed as important documentation of positive student achievement.

A CELEBRATION OF NDEO AUTHORS!!

NDEO’s participating Authors have books set up at a table for members to meet, speak with, and purchase signed copies of their publications.  Learn about the work of fellow NDEO members and engage in discussion with authors about works you have read.

An inter-arts exploration of self in relation to life experience through the language of movement in an interweaving of artistic and psychological processes. ($65)

Brain Compatible Dance
Exciting research is emerging about the relationship between motor and cognitive development. Explore possibilities in creative movement dance classes that are fun and stimulate brain development, creative expression, and aesthetic sensibilities. ($100)

Rainbow ‘Round My Shoulder
This all day intensive workshop will inform you about the origin of "Rainbow" and it's historic and creative process.  Participants will rehearse for a performance after the Dessert Reception on Thursday evening.  This piece is donated to the American Dance Legacy and is free for all to use, teach, and adjust as needed to serve your program, school, or community. ($100)
