ANNA HALPRIN Join Anna’s 26th annual spring ritual developed for peace among people and peace with the earth. The Earth Run is the heart of the Planetary Dance. It is a moving, simple circle dance that everyone can do based on walking, running, and stillness in the four directions. Black and white dress is suggested, but not required. Anna is named by the Dance Heritage Coalition as one of 100 “America’s Irreplaceable Dance Treasures.” DALE ROSE Rose will present his groundbreaking research of Chicago’s Reading in Motion (formerly Whirlwind) program, a program that teaches reading and spelling skills through kinesthetic learning techniques. The report, Basic Reading Through Dance Program: The Impact on First-Grade Students’ Basic Reading Skills (2003), written in cooperation with Susan McMahon and Michaela Parks, is hailed as important documentation of positive student achievement. |
